Group Therapy
Deeper Roots has multiple opportunities for group therapy to enhance our client’s wellbeing. Our groups focus on disordered eating, life transitions and relationships.
Our Approach:
Our therapists are highly experienced with specialized trainings in their respective areas of work. We welcome clients of all genders and cultures and strive to provide a safe and inclusive environment. Deeper Roots is aligned with the principles of Health At Every Size and works from an anti-diet and size-inclusive perspective.
While we do utilize traditional “talk therapy”, we take extra care to integrate the full-body in our therapy sessions. The majority of our perceptions and sensation as humans comes from our bodies, not our cognition - if we are not incorporating the body into therapy, we are missing a critical piece of healing. Some of the body centered modalities we use include:
Trauma informed
Somatically integrated
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming
Brain Spotting
Nervous System Regulation
Polyvagal Theory & SSP (Safe & Sound Protocol)
Play Therapy
Working in a trauma informed capacity is absolutely critical to providing a safe therapeutic space. Our clinicians have all received advanced training in nervous system regulation, various trauma processing modalities and understand the importance of culturally sensitive, anti-racist and gender inclusive care.
Trauma informed.
We believe somatic therapy is critical to full body and mind integration. We utilize a “bottom up” approach to therapy to listen to the body and what it is trying to tell us. Cognitive work on its own is simply not enough - the body stores our experiences and needs a safe, nurturing space to process and release past experiences and traumas.
Many of our clients come to Deeper Roots having spent years in cognitive or dialectical therapy and find they still aren’t “better” - we can provide the additional support to reconnect with yourself and find true emotional regulation. We do not focus just on symptom reduction but use an additive approach to find true wellness. Marrying the somatic with the cognitive allows us to deepen into full embodiment and healing.
